Absorption line shape of a one-dimensional Bose gas.

چکیده
We discuss the line shape for an internal state transition for bosonic atoms confined as a one-dimensional gas, using a method by Haldane. Typical line shape is an edge singularity due to the absence of Bose-Einstein condensation in such systems.

The Bose Gas and Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process on the Half-Line
In this paper we find explicit formulas for: (1) Green’s function for a system of one-dimensional bosons interacting via a delta-function potential with particles confined to the positive half-line; and (2) the transition probability for the one-dimensional asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) with particles confined to the nonnegative integers. These are both for systems with a finite nu...
متن کاملBose Gases in an Optical Lattice
We report on the study of the momentum distribution of a one-dimensional Bose gas in an optical lattice. From the momentum distribution we extract the condensed fraction of the gas and thereby measure the depletion of the condensate and compare it with a theorical estimate. We have measured the coherence length of the gas for systems with average occupation n̄ > 1 and n̄ < 1 per lattice site. 1 T...
متن کاملDimensional Reduction of Two-Dimensional Anyons to a One-Dimensional Interacting Bose Gas
We conjecture that a two-dimensional anyon system reduces, when confined to a narrow channel, to a one-dimensional bose gas with a repulsive two-body δ-function interaction. We verify this conjecture in first-order perturbation theory near bosons. If the channel width is reduced to zero, the one-dimensional system is fermionic for all anyons other than bosons. متن کاملWeakly interacting Bose gas in the one-dimensional limit.
We prepare a chemically and thermally one-dimensional (1D) quantum degenerate Bose gas in a single microtrap. We introduce a new interferometric method to distinguish the quasicondensate fraction of the gas from the thermal cloud at finite temperature. We reach temperatures down to kT≈0.5ℏω(⊥) (transverse oscillator eigenfrequency ω(⊥)) when collisional thermalization slows down as expected in ...
متن کاملBose-Einstein Condensation in Exotic Trapping Potentials
We discuss thermal and dynamical properties of Bose condensates confined by an external potential. First we analyze the Bose-Einstein transition temperature for an ideal Bose gas in a generic power-law potential and d-dimensional space. Then we investigate the effect of the shape of the trapping potential on the properties of a weakly-interacting Bose condensate. We show that using exotic trapp...
